A fractured second-hand bronze gaff end fitting forced me to alter the lower end of VOLUNTEER’s gaff to fit the new larger casting, so I scarfed a new end on with Sitka Spruce using the double scarf method, sometimes referred to as a fishtail or clothes peg scarf.
